JASANextGen is an intergenerational volunteer program for students (ages 5-18), providing engaging opportunities for students to engage with NYC’s older adults. Virtual game nights, quarterly Family Volunteer Days, and other programs allow kids to build meaningful relationships with JASA seniors across generations.

We provide additional opportunities for teens to hone their leadership skills and create community service projects that align with their interests. There are several fun ways to get involved, including:

  • Mini-internships in the fields of development, communications, event planning, volunteer management, and continuing education
  • Work on social media posts to raise awareness
  • Create fundraising campaigns to raise money for vulnerable older adults
  • Participate in career development events with JASA staff and corporate partners
  • Lead volunteer event(s) with fellow NextGenners and seniors
  • Start a JASANextGen club at your school

To continue providing a high-quality, hands-on experience for all participants, we ask families to contribute an annual $500 materials fee. This contribution helps cover the cost of essential program supplies, tools, and transportation for senior participants. If this fee presents a financial hardship, please don’t hesitate to reach out — we are committed to ensuring all families can participate, regardless of financial circumstances. Your gift represents a charitable contribution. Families may host a fundraiser in lieu of the contribution.

To join, please fill out the onboarding form. For any questions or inquiries about financial aid, please contact nextgen@jasa.org or 212.273.5290.
